Handbuilding pottery is a technique where you shape clay using your hands and simple tools, without a wheel. It focuses on sculptural, organic shapes and is great for beginners and those seeking a more mindful, therapeutic approach to pottery.

No prior experience is required! Our courses are designed for beginners and focus on making pottery accessible and enjoyable. You’ll learn step-by-step techniques that are easy to follow, regardless of your skill level.

We will let you know in each course what you need to start and create these pieces. But in general, you will need air-dry clay, basic pottery tools (such as a rolling pin, knife, and smoothing tools), and optional items for decorating, like acrylic paints. You'll also need access to the internet to follow along with the course videos.
